The software company behind the development of Cardano has announced that a few outstanding items will be needed to run in a bid to ensure everything works out as expected.
The head of delivery and products Nigel Hemsley said the team needed a few more days to re-evaluate the latest status. The previous date slated for the mainnet hard fork was the 29th of June.
Nigel said, “The IOG engineering team is close to finalizing the core work, as just seven bugs are still outstanding for the hard fork to be completed.” This will allow more time for testing.
The Cardano Foundation and IOG have both agreed on a new target date to hard fork the testnet at the end of June. When completed, the expected timeline for Vasil to hit mainnet will be in the last week of July.
This decision was made after rumors had it that there would be a potential delay in the upgrade. And Vice President of the community and ecosystem Tim Harrison responded to the news saying that everything has progressed as planned but a few factors needed to be in place before the hard fork combinator event can actually take place.
