Airbnb announced today a new global competition that would award 100 entrants with $100,000 each so that they can turn their weird design ideas into a bonafide revenue stream.
In 2021, more than 30,000 unique listings across the globe were added to Airbnb but the company’s demand for crazy living spaces is insatiable hence the creation of a $10 million fund to build more of them.
The competition will run from now to July 22, 2022. And those who live in a region where Airbnb operates are eligible to apply. All submissions will be accepted by Airbnb and will be judged based on their originality, feasibility, sustainability, and the experience they will provide for the guests.
The panel of judges includes experts such as architect Koichi Takada, style icon Idris Apfel, Airbnb’s VP of Experiential Creative Product Bruce Vaughn, and Airbnb’s Superhost Kristie Wolfe.
Airbnb says the Initiative of the $10 million “OMG Fund” is to respond to the traveler’s craving for unique destination rentals.
