Emirates the Largest airline and one of two flag carriers of the The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced its plan to include Bitcoin as a means of payment.
The COO of Emirates Adel Ahmed Al-Redha, said Bitcoin is a payment service that he plans to use.
Al-Redha also stated at a media conference that the airline will be looking to recruit new staff to help develop applications for Metaverse and NFTs.
The Dubai-based airline aims to use digital technologies such as blockchain, cryptocurrency and metaverse as part of its goal of interacting with customers in a faster and dynamic way.
This is a welcomed development in the crypto space as mainstream adoption continues to grow. Emirates have now joined a long list of big names like Tesla, Alibaba, Meta, Microsoft, PayPal, etc to integrate crypto currency into their eco-system.
